On December 28th, news emerged that the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce had announced additional measures. In line with directives from national ministries and commissions, and with the aim of wrapping up vehicle trade-in and replacement initiatives by 2025 while tapping into the full potential of car consumption, Chongqing has earmarked an extra RMB 160 million in subsidies for vehicle trade-ins and replacements. This brings the total subsidy pool, when combined with the previously announced RMB 25 million, to a substantial RMB 185 million. The application portal for these subsidies opened at 11:00 AM on December 27th.
The subsidy application process adheres to a "fixed total amount, first-come-first-served, and cease upon exhaustion" policy. Eligible applications can be submitted from 11:00 AM on December 27th, 2025, until 24:00 on January 10th, 2026. However, should the RMB 185 million subsidy allocation be fully utilized before the deadline, the application portal will be promptly closed.
