Recently, Tesla's Autonomous Taxi service, known as Robotaxi, has rolled out a set of new rules. Passengers who engage in behaviors such as vomiting, smoking, or causing other significant stains within the vehicle will now face a cleaning fee of up to $150 (roughly equivalent to RMB 1,053). These regulations were initially unveiled on December 25 as part of a service update and were subsequently elaborated upon with detailed guidelines on December 28.
The cleaning fee is structured into two distinct levels. A $50 charge will be applied for minor contamination, which includes incidents like food spills or dirt tracked into the vehicle. On the other hand, a $150 fee will be levied for more severe cases of contamination, such as vomit or a persistent smoke odor.
In cases where vomiting is a result of alcohol consumption or motion sickness, passengers will automatically incur the maximum fine. Similarly, passengers caught smoking inside the vehicle will also be subject to this fee. Once the fee assessment process is concluded, passengers will be notified via email. Additionally, they can access the updated trip receipt directly through the Robotaxi app.
