In December 2025, spy photos of BMW's mid-cycle refreshed M5 (G90) and fifth-generation X5 (G65) surfaced one after another. The iconic kidney grille on the front of the M5 has been downsized and is no longer integrated with the headlights. Meanwhile, the front bumper maintains its heat dissipation design and has been updated with new taillights. Inside, the vehicle will boast a 17.9-inch central control display, a panoramic vision system, and an entertainment screen for the front passenger. The new M5 is anticipated to hit the market in the latter half of 2027.
The fifth-generation X5, on the other hand, will offer a diverse range of powertrains, encompassing gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants. The high-performance plug-in hybrid model, the X5 M60e xDrive, will feature quad exhaust outlets and a charging port. It is speculated to combine an inline six-cylinder engine with an electric motor. The global premiere of this model is expected to take place from late spring to midsummer in 2026, with production slated to begin in August of the same year.
