On December 25, Jinbei Automobile revealed that it had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany’s E-Works Mobility GmbH, outlining plans to establish research and development centers. The two entities aim to set up R&D hubs in China and Germany, respectively, with the goal of penetrating the European electric light commercial vehicle market. This will be achieved through collaborative technology development, integrated manufacturing capabilities, and shared market resources. According to the outlined strategy, both parties are determined to secure a market share of 10% or more in the European electric chassis cab and electric van segments by 2040. Specifically, the proposed Chinese R&D center will be overseen by Jinbei Automobile or one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, concentrating on the development and adaptability research of electric chassis and associated components. Meanwhile, the German R&D center, slated to be under E-Works’ control, will handle product definition, system architecture decisions, and regulatory compliance integration. Additionally, the two parties will delve into potential collaborations in vehicle manufacturing, market channel synergy, and joint technological innovation.
