Recently, a vehicle traveling on the G75 Lanhai Expressway encountered malfunctions in both its cruise control and brake systems. The car accelerated uncontrollably, reaching speeds of up to 115 kilometers per hour, and continued at this pace for a staggering 490 kilometers until it depleted its fuel supply and finally came to a halt. The driver, Ma Shihua, reported that after engaging the cruise control, he discovered that the brake pedal was unresponsive and pressing the cruise control deactivation button had no effect. Fortunately, with traffic police leading the way and road administration providing support, the vehicle was safely guided to a stop. Ma Shihua has expressed his hope that the 4S dealership will offer a refund, provide a replacement vehicle, or compensate him for the mental distress he has endured. The manufacturer has not yet issued a response regarding this incident. This occurrence has ignited discussions surrounding the safety of automotive driver-assistance systems, prompting experts to remind car owners of the importance of familiarizing themselves with the operational logic and emergency response techniques before utilizing cruise control.
