On December 22, the "Shenzhen - Hong Kong Express Auto Pass Initiative" was formally launched within the Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone. Under this initiative, domestically manufactured new energy vehicles (NEVs) designated for export and meeting regulatory standards can submit applications to Hong Kong Customs and relevant government agencies for pre - audit of automobile imports as well as vehicle qualification approval. This application process takes place while the vehicles are still in Shenzhen's specially supervised areas and prior to their actual departure.

Once the Hong Kong side finishes the pre - audit, these domestically produced NEVs can proceed with the official customs declaration for clearance and departure. They are then transported to Hong Kong via road and can swiftly complete the registration procedures upon arrival, enabling Hong Kong residents to start using them. Compared to the traditional approach, this new model slashes the vehicle's stay time and storage costs in Hong Kong by over 70%.
