On December 22, Luobo Kuaipao, Baidu’s autonomous driving mobility service platform, made an announcement stating that it will commence autonomous driving tests and offer travel services in London, UK, in the year 2026. This strategic move represents a significant milestone, as it marks the inaugural entry of China’s autonomous driving technology into a right-hand drive market beyond Hong Kong, China. Prior to this, Luobo Kuaipao had successfully obtained the first pilot license for autonomous vehicles in Hong Kong. Furthermore, it expanded its test areas on four separate occasions, thereby amassing invaluable data and safe operational experience. This accumulation has paved the way and established a solid technological foundation for its forthcoming implementation in London.
