Li Auto is gearing up to establish an AI research and development (R&D) center in Silicon Valley, having initiated the recruitment process several months prior. Previously, Li Auto maintained a relatively small R&D team in North America. This latest expansion is predominantly centered around the realm of assisted driving, with a specific focus on attracting top-tier talent. In October of this year, Li Auto successfully concluded the construction of distribution channels and the launch of products in four international markets, including Egypt and Kazakhstan. Within its overarching overseas expansion strategy, the establishment of a global R&D network assumes utmost significance. Li Auto has already set up R&D centers overseas in Germany and the United States, bringing the total number of such centers worldwide to four. Among these, the inaugural overseas R&D center is located in Munich, Germany, and is tasked with conducting technical pre-research in areas such as forward-looking styling design. The two domestic centers are based in Beijing and Shanghai, concentrating on core technology and vehicle R&D. As a mecca for AI talent, Silicon Valley has already witnessed early strategic arrangements by companies like NIO and XPeng, setting the stage for Li Auto's entry into this competitive landscape.
