Recently, a substantial number of Hello e - bike users have encountered what can be aptly termed "service disruptions." Key features that were part of their "permanent membership" package, such as remote positioning and online battery level checks, have mysteriously vanished. To make matters worse, some e - bikes even abruptly powered off and locked while users were in the middle of their rides.
The root cause of this chaos lies in the phase - out of 2G networks. However, when users purchased these e - bikes, they were not informed that the vehicles were equipped with 2G communication modules. In fact, as early as 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a directive mandating that new Internet of Things (IoT) terminals should no longer rely on 2G/3G networks. Despite this, Hello persisted in releasing e - bikes that utilized 2G networks.
Now, users are left with no choice but to dig into their own pockets. They have to either pay for an upgrade to 4G modules or switch to Bluetooth unlocking. What's more, the originally promised permanent membership benefits have been severely curtailed. This has understandably led to a wave of consumer dissatisfaction.
