On December 8th, reports emerged indicating that Ling Ji, serving as Vice Minister and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, recently engaged in video discussions with Hildegard Müller, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry, and Ola Källenius, Chairman of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association and also the Chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group. During these talks, both parties delved into extensive discussions on automotive industry and supply chain collaboration between China and Germany, as well as between China and Europe.

Ling Ji expressed his hope that German and European automotive industry associations would continue to leverage their influence, encouraging the European Commission to collaborate closely with the Chinese side in order to swiftly and appropriately address the anti-subsidy investigation concerning electric vehicles. In response to pertinent questions, Ling Ji provided an overview of the situation surrounding Nexperia, highlighting that the root cause of the turmoil in the global semiconductor supply chain could be traced back to actions taken by the Dutch side. He underscored China's consistent commitment to a responsible stance, promptly instituting export license exemption measures to mitigate any negative repercussions on the automotive sector. Additionally, Ling Ji voiced his expectation that German and European automotive industry associations would actively encourage Nexperia to expedite the identification of a solution aimed at stabilizing the global supply chain.
