On December 8, the world witnessed a groundbreaking achievement as the inaugural running test for a 35,000-ton heavy-haul train group was successfully carried out on the Baoshen Railway in Inner Mongolia. During this test, seven freight trains, each with a load capacity of 5,000 tonnes, operated without the conventional mechanical couplers typically used in such setups. Instead, they utilized an intelligent system independently developed by China, which enabled them to travel in a coordinated manner through wireless signals. The trains maintained synchronized acceleration and braking, ensuring a seamless journey free from collisions or decoupling incidents. This event marked a global first, as it was the first time that multiple freight trains achieved coordinated travel relying solely on wireless signals.
