With the unveiling of the 2026 Ford Mondeo, a wave of discontent has swept through the community of long-time owners of the 2022 to 2025 variants, as they have lodged a collective complaint. The focal point of their dissatisfaction lies with the infotainment system in these older models, which is saddled with the obsolete Qualcomm 820A chip. This outdated hardware has led to a host of issues, including sluggish performance and an inability to load navigation properly. Moreover, the system falls short in terms of interconnection capabilities, directly contradicting the manufacturer's promotional assurances.
In stark contrast, the infotainment system in the 2026 model has undergone a substantial upgrade. Presently, more than 360 owners have taken to the Heimao Complaints Platform to voice their collective grievances. They are urging the manufacturer to roll out software updates that would enable seamless interconnection with mainstream smartphones. Additionally, they are calling for a paid service option to replace their outdated infotainment systems with the newer, more advanced version.
In response to these demands, Ford China's customer service team has clarified that due to the significant disparities in hardware configuration between the old and new models, implementing corresponding functional, chip, or system upgrades is not a viable option.
