As per an October 26 (local time) report from Autocar, Euro NCAP is embarking on its most sweeping reform of vehicle safety assessments in more than ten years. The emphasis is on how well driver-assistance systems function in real-world scenarios and the ease of in-cabin controls. These new benchmarks are slated to take effect in 2026, with the testing framework built around four key areas: safe driving practices, collision prevention, collision safeguarding, and post-collision actions. This overhaul is designed to make the testing system more stringent and practically relevant, allowing for a more thorough evaluation of vehicles both before and after accidents. It also aims to motivate automakers to implement cutting-edge safety technologies, ultimately offering superior protection for vehicle occupants and all road users.
