On November 26, 2025, Uber and WeRide made a groundbreaking announcement: they officially inaugurated the Middle East's inaugural fully driverless taxi commercial operation in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. On that very day, public commercial services commenced on Yas Island, operating without the need for onboard safety operators. Passengers have the convenience of booking this innovative service through either Uber Comfort or UberX. Prior to this launch, WeRide had conducted extensive testing in Abu Dhabi, amassing nearly one million kilometers of driving experience, thereby laying a solid foundation for the successful rollout of commercial operations.
