Following the launch of a commercialized autonomous taxi service in Abu Dhabi last year, Chinese autonomous driving technology company WeRide and its partner Uber have announced that the service has achieved driverless operation, eliminating the need for human safety operators, and is now officially open to the public. The initial routes cover Yas Island, a renowned tourist area in Abu Dhabi famous for hosting the F1 Grand Prix.
