As reported by 9to5google, Google has announced on its support page that Gemini is set to take over from Google Assistant on Android Auto, with the transition commencing in March 2026. At that juncture, Google Assistant will discontinue its services and will no longer be accessible to users. Previously, Android users had the flexibility to toggle between the two assistants within the system settings interface. However, after the specified deadline, Gemini will be automatically activated without the option to revert. It's important to note that this upgrade exclusively pertains to mobile devices, leaving the voice services on IoT terminals, such as smart home gadgets, unaffected for the present.
