Recently, at a media roundtable following the launch event of the Haval H6L, Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motors, shared his profound insights into the automotive landscape. He announced that Great Wall Motors is on the verge of introducing an all-power platform and exposed the fallacy behind automakers' claims of exclusive electric vehicle (EV) chassis. Wei Jianjun argued that automotive power platforms should evolve towards an all-power approach, aiming to resolve the challenge of unprofitable commercial value associated with pure electric vehicles and to offer a wider array of choices for Chinese consumers.
Furthermore, he criticized the past five years of rapid expansion in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, labeling them as the most tumultuous period in the automotive industry, characterized by a wave of corporate closures. These closures, he noted, have had a detrimental impact on product value retention and after-sales service. Wei Jianjun also underscored the significance of all-power platforms and suggested that if the domestic market fails to fully embrace them, exploring opportunities for exporting used cars could be a viable strategy.
