NIO's independently developed high-end intelligent driving chip, the 'Shenji NX9031,' has officially commenced external technology licensing, forging partnerships with automotive chip companies. Leveraging a cutting-edge 5nm automotive-grade manufacturing process, this chip boasts computational power nearly four times greater than that of NVIDIA's Orin-X chip. The project kicked off in 2021, involving a research and development team of over 600 professionals and an investment amounting to several billion yuan. Following three years of rigorous R&D and testing, the chip has showcased exceptional performance across several key metrics. Its production timeline is several months ahead of NVIDIA's Thor-U, and it has already been integrated into multiple NIO vehicle models. In June of this year, NIO established Anhui Shenji to oversee and coordinate related business operations. On November 14, Anhui Shenji, in collaboration with Axera Intelligence and OmniVision Technologies, co-founded Chongqing Chuangyuan Zhihang Technology Co., Ltd., with Axera Intelligence holding a 36.4% stake and emerging as the largest shareholder. Axera Intelligence made its foray into the automotive chip sector in 2023.
