Tesla’s autonomous taxi fleet operating in Austin, Texas, has recently been implicated in three more collision incidents, raising the total number of accidents since the service’s inception to seven. Launched in July, the service recorded three accidents during its inaugural month, with an additional incident occurring the following month. Data released during this period revealed that from late June to early November, the fleet had logged 250,000 miles of autonomous driving. The accident rate during this span was approximately twice that of comparable services offered by leading industry competitors.
Recently, Tesla updated its accident reports to include three additional incidents from September. However, the company chose not to provide 'incident descriptions,' preventing the public from accessing detailed information about these events. The three most recent accidents involved a collision with a reversing vehicle, a near-miss with a cyclist, and an encounter with an unidentified animal on the roadway.
