Ford Motor CEO Jim Farley revealed in a podcast interview last week that the company currently has 5,000 technician positions vacant. Despite offering annual salaries as high as $120,000, roughly double the median wage for U.S. workers, Ford is still struggling to find suitable candidates. Financial blog Zero Hedge shared the content of Farley's interview on its X account on Sunday, to which Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded by saying that the U.S. has a severe shortage of people willing to engage in and receive training for challenging physical work.
