On November 16, Lei Jun made several posts on Weibo, re-emphasizing Xiaomi's safety-centric design philosophy for its automobiles. Reacting to internet users who misquoted him by claiming, "For Xiaomi cars, aesthetics outweigh safety," Lei Jun clarified that safety is the cornerstone and a non-negotiable prerequisite, asserting that safety supersedes all other considerations. He further elaborated that the comment, "For a car, appearance is paramount," which he made during an interview in April of the previous year, does not conflict with Xiaomi's safety-first approach. The Xiaomi SU7 is engineered to meet the three most rigorous safety standards, offering a four-tiered protection system: passive safety, active safety, battery safety, and privacy safety. Its chassis is constructed using Xiaomi's proprietary MI Armor Cage Steel-Aluminum Hybrid Structure, with high-strength steel and aluminum alloy constituting 90.1% of the materials used, achieving a peak strength of 2000MPa. Regarding battery safety, Xiaomi's in-house-developed battery pack has undergone over 1000 safety evaluations, with the number of test items being 20 times higher than the national standard.
