Recently, in compliance with pertinent regulations, BMW (China) Automotive Trading Ltd. and Brilliance BMW Automotive Ltd. submitted a recall plan to the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Under Recall Number S2025M0175V: Commencing on November 14, 2025, a recall will be launched for a selection of imported 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, X4, X5, X6, and Z4 models. These vehicles were manufactured between September 27, 2018, and December 15, 2020, with a total of 86,599 units affected.
Under Recall Number S2025M0176V: On the very same day, a recall will also commence for certain locally - produced 3 Series vehicles. These cars were rolled out of the production line between October 9, 2018, and May 14, 2020, and the number of affected units stands at 58,533.
The root cause of this recall lies in the sub - par waterproof performance of the starter relays in some of these vehicles. When the vehicles come into contact with water, there's a possibility of water seeping into the relays. This can result in circuit corrosion and internal electrical short - circuits. In extreme scenarios, there's even a risk of fire breaking out.
To address these potential safety hazards, the two companies will replace the starters of the recalled vehicles with upgraded ones free of charge.
