On Friday, American electric - vehicle maker Rivian made an announcement: over the next ten years, it will offer its Chief Executive Officer, RJ Scaringe, a compensation plan valued at up to $4.6 billion. As per the documents Rivian submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Scaringe is set to receive stock options for up to 36.5 million shares of Rivian's Class A stock. This number is roughly 16 million more than what was previously on the table, and each share comes with an exercise price of $15.22. These stock options won't be available all at once. Instead, they will vest in a phased manner. On one hand, as Rivian's stock price climbs to a range between $40 and $140 over the coming decade, a portion of the options will become available. On the other hand, achieving new revenue and cash - flow goals within the next seven years will also trigger the vesting of some options.
