On October 24, 2025, Sharp, the Japanese electronics behemoth, declared its foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market, unveiling plans to commence mass production and introduce its inaugural all-electric MPV model, the LDK+, by 2027. Leveraging the Foxconn EV platform, this model is envisioned as a "mobile living room," designed to offer a versatile, on-the-go living experience. The LDK+ concept car had its grand premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 29, showcasing a pillarless design (absence of B-pillars), front seats capable of 360° rotation, and a rear section outfitted with a projector and a retractable screen. This setup facilitates a multitude of uses, including remote work and a mobile cinema experience. The development of this model was a collaborative effort among Sharp, Hon Hai Group (the parent company of Foxconn), and the Japanese EV startup FoloFly. It seamlessly integrates Sharp's AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) platform, enabling seamless connectivity between in-car and home devices.
