Today, Li Auto has formally addressed the fire incident that befell a Li MEGA 2024 model vehicle in Shanghai on the evening of October 23, 2025. The company extended its heartfelt apologies to the vehicle owner and acknowledged the concerns and anxieties of its wider user community.
Following the incident, Li Auto swiftly reached out to the vehicle owner and actively collaborated with relevant authorities in the investigation process. Due to the necessity of adhering to rigorous procedures for inspecting and testing the vehicle involved in the accident, a definitive technical conclusion has not yet been reached. Nevertheless, Li Auto has launched an internal investigation and analysis, meticulously reviewing records from the cloud early warning system and specialized verification data.
The findings indicated that among the Li MEGA 2024 model vehicles from the same production batch as the affected vehicle, inadequate coolant corrosion resistance could, under certain conditions, result in corrosion and leakage of the cooling aluminum plates in the power battery and front motor controller cooling circuits, thereby posing safety risks.
In response to this discovery, Li Auto has proactively submitted a recall plan to the State Administration for Market Regulation. The plan aims to conduct thorough safety inspections and replacement repairs on all Li MEGA 2024 model vehicles from the same batch as the affected vehicle, ensuring the utmost safety for its customers.
