On October 31, 2025, Samsung SDI made an announcement regarding the signing of a tripartite pact with the BMW Group and Solid Power, a U.S. - based battery technology firm. This collaboration is aimed at jointly undertaking an all - solid - state battery validation project.
As per the agreement, Samsung SDI will leverage the solid - state electrolytes developed by Solid Power. It will then supply all - solid - state battery cells that offer a winning combination of high energy density and enhanced safety. Meanwhile, the BMW Group will take charge of developing compatible battery modules and packs.
The three parties involved will assess battery performance based on parameters and requirements that they have mutually agreed upon. Subsequently, they will integrate the validated batteries into BMW's next - generation test vehicles for comprehensive testing.
