By 2025, unmanned delivery vehicles have become a focal point for the swift advancement of autonomous driving technology. Since the start of the year, top-tier companies in this field have raised around 8.6 billion yuan in funding. The industry is at the forefront, breaking through the commercialization barrier, with leading firms on track to achieve profitability. Notably, Neolix and 9F Robotics have each produced and delivered 10,000 vehicles. Neolix projects its revenue to hit 1 billion yuan this year, with full profitability anticipated by 2026.
Unmanned delivery vehicles effectively tackle the challenges of last-mile delivery in the express industry, significantly reducing costs and boosting efficiency. Their deployment numbers far exceed those of robotaxis. This year, leading companies have ramped up their deployments, while newcomers like Desay SV and Minieye have also entered the market with their products.
However, the industry still confronts several hurdles before achieving widespread commercialization. Technologically, ensuring the stability of large-scale operations is crucial. Additionally, there is a lack of unified national regulations governing road access rights, which escalates the costs of cross-regional deployments. Despite the sequential rollout of relevant policies, leading companies have established operations in multiple regions and secured road access rights. Nevertheless, the number of licenses issued by each city remains limited, and numerous obstacles still need to be overcome for large-scale deployment to become a reality.
