On October 22, 2025, Vinci, the French highway operator, made an exciting announcement. An electric heavy - duty truck had successfully managed to achieve dynamic inductive “charging while driving” on the A10 highway close to Paris.
This innovative technology works by creating an electromagnetic field. How? Well, beneath a 1.5 - kilometer stretch of the road, 900 copper coils are installed. These coils generate the electromagnetic field, which then transmits electrical energy to the vehicle. The instantaneous power of this energy transmission can reach up to 300 kilowatts, with an average power of 200 kilowatts. What does this mean for the vehicle? It allows the vehicle to gain 1 kilometer of driving range for every 1 kilometer it travels.
In the context of the transportation sector, where reducing carbon emissions is a top priority, this technology is a significant step forward in the journey towards decarbonization.
