On the morning of October 8 (Beijing Time), Tesla unveiled its much-anticipated, lower-priced variant of the Model Y, with a starting price tag of $39,990, or roughly RMB 285,000. This new addition to the lineup is dubbed the "Standard Version Model Y". Concurrently, Tesla's official website also featured the "Standard Version Model 3", which carries a price of $36,990, approximately RMB 263,000, marking it as the most budget-friendly option currently listed on Tesla's U.S. official site. Both newly introduced models come with price tags that considerably exceed the market's anticipated benchmark of $30,000. Consequently, this pricing strategy led to a downturn in Tesla's stock value. By the conclusion of Tuesday's U.S. stock market session, Tesla's shares had plummeted by 4.45%, settling at $433.09 per share, thus wiping out the gains accrued the previous day.
