Yesterday, a pertinent official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that China is set to further expand its openness and foster collaboration within the automotive industry. This move aims to encourage in-depth, high-caliber cooperation between Chinese and international enterprises across various domains, including capital, technology, management, and talent. In a significant step, China has completely removed restrictions on foreign ownership shares in new energy vehicle (NEV) companies. This policy shift supports the operation of fully foreign-owned enterprises in China, exemplified by companies like Tesla and Lexus. Additionally, it facilitates deeper partnerships between global automotive giants such as Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and General Motors with their Chinese counterparts. In the first half of this year, the global sales of new energy vehicles neared 10 million units, constituting 21.3% of the total new vehicle sales—a notable increase of roughly 4 percentage points compared to the previous year.
