Baidu’s self-driving taxi service, Luobo Kuaipao, has successfully met its operational profitability goals in several Chinese cities and is now setting its sights on international expansion, including Australia. According to Niu Haotian, General Manager of Baidu’s Intelligent Driving International Business Division, Luobo Kuaipao is actively engaging in talks with local authorities in Australia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe to assess the feasibility of deploying autonomous vehicles in these regions. Thanks to improved operational efficiency in its domestic operations, Luobo Kuaipao has reached the break-even point on a per-vehicle basis in multiple cities where it operates. However, achieving overall profitability for the entire business unit will require additional time and effort.
