Recently, an overseas automotive blogger shared a post on platform X, revealing that details about a budget-friendly variant of the Model Y, internally codenamed "E41," had been unearthed for the first time within Tesla's in-car firmware. This new iteration, engineered with a strong emphasis on cost efficiency, is projected to make its official debut before the close of 2025. It is primarily aimed at cost-conscious individual consumers as well as sizable fleet markets, encompassing taxi services, car rental firms, and delivery companies.
To achieve significant cost reductions, the E41 has undergone extensive simplifications in both design and configuration. For instance, the exterior no longer features a panoramic glass roof. Inside, the seats are upholstered in fabric, with adjustments limited to a single-axis mechanism. Comfort features such as ventilation, heating, and a heated steering wheel have been omitted. Mechanically, the E41 will be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, powered by a new, cost-effective motor. It will also sport a simplified suspension system and come standard with 18-inch basic wheels.
