In an article, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the Passenger Car Association, revealed that in August 2025, China exported 315,000 new energy vehicles, marking an impressive 83% year-on-year surge and underscoring a robust market performance. Between January and August 2025, the cumulative number of exported new energy vehicles reached 2.02 million units, a 51% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth rate far outstripped the 24% rise recorded during the corresponding period in 2024. During the first eight months of 2025, China’s new energy vehicle exports have not only met but significantly exceeded expectations. Plug-in hybrid and hybrid models have emerged as the new catalysts propelling export growth. In particular, plug-in hybrid pickup trucks have made a notable splash in the export market, becoming a standout feature in the commercial new energy vehicle segment. Furthermore, China’s new energy vehicle exports are transitioning towards high-quality development, particularly in the Middle East and developed markets, with Western Europe and Asian markets being the primary destinations.
