Tesla is gearing up to introduce a more budget-conscious iteration of the Model Y, internally dubbed E41. This new model has been meticulously engineered to slash costs from the existing Model Y, with pricing anticipated to stay under RMB 200,000, and potentially dipping as low as RMB 150,000. Production on a large scale is poised to kick off in the latter half of this year. Insider leaks reveal that the E41 has bid farewell to the panoramic glass roof, opting instead for a conventional metal roof. The front and rear light designs have been streamlined, and the wheel diameter has been downsized to 18 inches. On the interior front, plush leather seats have made way for fabric alternatives, the rear-seat entertainment display has been axed, the ambient lighting has been toned down to mere functionality, and the air vent controls have lost some of their finesse. When it comes to performance and range, the battery capacity has been trimmed to roughly 50kWh, offering an estimated driving range of 400-500 kilometers. The motor's power output has also seen a downward adjustment. Nevertheless, the car still comes equipped with Tesla's cutting-edge basic Autopilot assisted driving technology, ensuring that the brand's core technological essence remains intact.
