The 2025 International Motor Show (IAA) in Munich recently commenced in Germany, with Chinese new energy vehicle exhibits taking center stage. A remarkable 116 Chinese vehicle manufacturers and supply chain enterprises participated, displaying their cutting-edge technological advancements in power batteries, intelligent cockpits, autonomous driving, and connected vehicle technologies. Exhibits from automakers including XPeng, Leapmotor, BYD, and Changan drew significant attention, with numerous visitors flocking to test-drive their vehicles. Meanwhile, supply chain giants like CATL and Horizon Robotics also made a notable impact. After experiencing the vehicles firsthand, German visitors generally acknowledged the advanced level of intelligent interaction in Chinese electric vehicles. From January to August this year, more than 35,000 new vehicles from Chinese brands have been registered in Germany. New models from European automakers, such as the BMW iX3 and Audi Q6L e-tron, are outfitted with Chinese batteries and intelligent driving technologies, with cooperation between the two sides expanding from technology exports to encompass supply chains and production. According to a survey conducted by the German Association of the Automotive Industry, nearly 70% of the responding companies intend to boost their R&D investments in China, as the China-Europe automotive industry shapes an ecological landscape characterized by technological complementarity and market sharing.
