On September 12, news emerged that Zhaoqing XPENG New Energy Investment Co., Ltd. had formally submitted a recall proposal to the State Administration for Market Regulation. This move was made in strict adherence to the 'Regulations on the Recall Management of Defective Automotive Products' and its corresponding enforcement guidelines.
The recall plan, slated to commence on September 15, 2025, targets specific XPENG P7+ vehicles manufactured between August 20, 2024, and April 27, 2025. In total, 47,490 units are affected. The root cause of the recall lies in the substandard contact within the sensor wiring harness of the steering assist motor in certain vehicles. This issue has the potential to induce fluctuations in the steering gear sensor signal, trigger the illumination of the steering fault warning light, and ultimately result in the failure of the steering assist system, thereby posing a significant safety risk.
To address this concern and ensure the safety of its customers, XPENG Motors will provide a complimentary replacement of the enhanced steering gear assembly for all recalled vehicles, effectively mitigating the identified hazard.
