In the second quarter of 2025, the worldwide installed capacity of traction inverters for electric vehicles soared to 7.66 million units, marking a significant 19% year-on-year surge. This remarkable expansion was mainly propelled by the escalating sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). When examining powertrain configurations, BEVs emerged as the dominant force, contributing 52% to the total installed capacity. This figure outstripped the combined share of hybrid variants, encompassing hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs). Notably, this is the second consecutive quarter, since the first quarter of 2024, that BEVs have claimed the top spot in terms of installed capacity.
