On September 5, 2025, U.S.-based chip giant Qualcomm teamed up with German automotive powerhouse BMW to unveil their groundbreaking autonomous driving system, named 'Snapdragon Ride Pilot'. This innovative system is built upon Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride system-on-chip technology. It leverages a software stack that has been co-developed by the two companies. The system is versatile, supporting a wide range of functionalities, from basic requirements set by New Car Assessment Programs to advanced L2+-level autonomous driving capabilities on highways and in urban environments. Notably, it introduces new features such as hands-free driving assistance, enhancing the driving experience. The system made its grand entrance in the BMW Neue Klasse's inaugural mass-produced model, the iX3. It has undergone rigorous validation in over 60 countries and regions, with an ambitious plan to extend its reach to more than 100 countries and regions by 2026.
