Waymo has embarked on an expansion of its autonomous driving services in the United States, initiating the deployment of Jaguar I-Pace SUVs and Zeekr vans in Denver and Seattle. Initially, these vehicles will be operated manually by drivers, gradually transitioning to autonomous driving tests. With the aim of introducing a driverless taxi service in Denver next year, Waymo plans to extend this service to Seattle upon securing the necessary approvals. The diverse weather conditions in Denver and Seattle, including snow, strong winds, and rain, will offer Waymo invaluable opportunities to test its autonomous driving technology under adverse conditions. Furthermore, Waymo intends to conduct tests in multiple cities, such as Las Vegas, San Diego, and Houston. Since 2021, Zeekr has been collaborating with Waymo to develop electric vehicles tailored for autonomous driving. The models currently being deployed are built on Zeekr's Haohan-M architecture and are equipped with Waymo's latest sixth-generation sensor system.
