On September 2, it emerged that Tesla's initial foray into the Indian market has fallen short of anticipations, with a modest number of pre-orders casting fresh doubts over its global expansion prospects. Since sales commenced in mid-July, Tesla has reportedly garnered orders for over 600 vehicles, a figure that falls significantly below the company's expectations. This tally is comparable to Tesla's global delivery volume every four hours in the first half of this year. Tesla currently envisages shipping between 350 and 500 cars to India this year, with the first batch expected to arrive from Shanghai in early September. Initially, deliveries will be confined to four cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Gurgaon. The number of vehicles delivered will hinge on the full payments received and Tesla's delivery capabilities in regions beyond these four cities.
