On September 1, WeRide proudly announced the arrival of its inaugural batch of Robotaxi GXR in Singapore, heralding the debut of autonomous vehicles in the Southeast Asian market. Currently, these Robotaxi GXR vehicles are undergoing rigorous simulated road tests at the Center for Autonomous Vehicle Testing and Research (CETRAN) at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The objective of these tests is to meticulously assess the vehicles' performance and safety under Singapore's unique public road conditions, a crucial step towards securing the M1 certification. Upon obtaining the necessary approvals, it is anticipated that by the close of 2025, these vehicles will be deployed on designated public roads, operated jointly by WeRide and a prominent regional mobility service provider. This collaboration lays the groundwork for the eventual large-scale commercialization of these autonomous taxis.
