Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the Passenger Car Association, has issued a report revealing that global auto sales reached 7.73 million units in July 2025, marking a 7% year-on-year increase but a 4% decline from June. The Chinese auto market has demonstrated remarkable resilience, propelling global sales in July 2025 beyond the previous peak levels recorded in July 2018. In 2025, the global auto market underwent further segmentation, with China's market share gradually regaining ground. Early in the year, the implementation of China's new subsidy policy sparked a resurgence in auto sales, pushing China's market share to 34% in January. However, due to the impact of the Spring Festival in February and temporarily robust markets in the United States and Japan, China's global market share dipped to 31% in that month. With the continued promotion of the trade-in subsidy policy, the Chinese auto market has strengthened steadily each month, and China's global market share rebounded to 34% in July, representing a 3 percentage point increase from the same period last year.
