On August 26, Reuters reported that Tesla Inc. declined to settle a lawsuit stemming from a 2019 fatal car accident involving its Autopilot system for a proposed $60 million. The tragic incident, which claimed one life, led a Florida court to rule that Tesla must pay $243 million in compensation. Prior to this, Tesla had made a lower settlement offer, but both parties failed to reach an agreement. The court's ruling significantly surpasses Tesla's initial settlement proposal, amounting to an additional $183 million (approximately RMB 1.3 billion).
