On August 24, Hefei's Industry and Information Technology Bureau released data revealing that as of October 21, 2024, the city's new energy vehicle production has surpassed the milestone of 1 million units. This figure significantly outpaces last year's total output of 746,000 units, with projections pointing towards an annual production exceeding 1.3 million units. From January to September this year, Hefei has welcomed a total of 153 projects within the new energy vehicle industry chain, amounting to a collective investment of 131.5 billion yuan. These projects encompass top 100 global auto parts companies such as Autoliv, Joyson Electronics, and Fuyao Glass, alongside landmark foreign investments like Volkswagen's second global R&D center and Corning's automotive glass facility. Hefei's new energy vehicle industry now boasts a prominent cluster effect, with six leading vehicle manufacturers—JAC, BYD, NIO, Volkswagen, Changan, and Ankai—converging in the city. This diverse lineup encompasses foreign giants, central enterprises, emerging automotive forces, local independent brands, and Huawei's ecosystem, achieving a comprehensive "grand slam" across various forms of vehicle manufacturing.
