Recently, Li Auto unveiled a safety assessment video showcasing the Li Auto i8 SUV in a collision with a truck. The footage depicts a dramatic scene where a 2-ton Li Auto i8 SUV sends an 8-ton truck airborne, causing significant displacement of the truck's cab. This video has ignited widespread debate among internet users. Despite a Joint Statement issued by Li Auto, China Automotive Technology & Research Center, and Chenglong Truck on the evening of August 6 aiming to conclude the matter, some Chenglong truck drivers may still feel aggrieved. According to Li Auto, the test was designed to validate the i8's passive safety performance and was conducted by a reputable third-party institution, which also provided the test truck. The Li Auto i8 excelled in the test, with no visible deformation to its A-pillar, B-pillar, C-pillar, or door beams. All nine airbags deployed as intended, and there was no battery pack leakage or fire.
