On August 15, Shanghai Lingang officially inaugurated its pioneering fleet of driverless intelligent connected autonomous taxis. These services encompass 58 locations within the Lingang urban hub, operating daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Residents can hail a ride via the "Lingang Travel" mini-program. Once the Robotaxi accepts the booking, passengers are required to verify order details and secure their seat belts. Presently, only the rear seats are accessible for passengers. The fare structure is set at an initial charge of 16 yuan for the first 5 kilometers, followed by an additional 4 yuan per kilometer thereafter. This milestone signifies a significant advancement in the commercial deployment of L4 autonomous driving technology. Lingang New Area has designated 551.7 kilometers of roads for autonomous vehicle testing and has granted driverless road test permits to 41 vehicles, 14 of which have secured qualifications for demonstrative operations. The local administration has instituted the nation's first comprehensive management framework for driverless intelligent connected vehicles, complete with a digital regulatory platform and a safety spot inspection mechanism. Furthermore, Lingang is actively exploring various application scenarios, including smart buses and smart heavy-duty trucks, with the objective of continually advancing the large-scale commercialization of intelligent connected vehicles.
