Factory Utilization Rates of Korean EV Battery Manufacturers Continue to Drop in First Half of Year

Data released on Friday revealed that the global slowdown in demand for electric vehicles (EVs) has caused a persistent decline in factory utilization rates among Korea's leading battery manufacturers. LG Energy Solution, the country's largest EV battery producer, highlighted in its semi-annual report that despite achieving a production capacity of KRW 20.1 trillion (approximately USD 14.5 billion) in the first half of this year, the average capacity utilization rate stood at just 51.3%. This figure has steadily decreased from 73.6% in 2022 to 69.3% in 2023, and now further to 51.3% this year.
