Hungarian media outlets have reported that 35 Chinese workers staged a protest by blocking the main entrance of BYD's newly constructed factory in Szeged, Hungary. The protest arose from their dissatisfaction with the revised contract terms proposed by the site contractor. BYD confirmed the protest but emphasized that it only caused minor disruptions to ongoing construction activities. These workers were previously employed by China AIM Construction Hungary, the general contractor, and their contract with the company was terminated at the end of July.
