The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) have collaboratively formulated the "Notice on Strengthening Oversight of Recalls and Production Consistency, and Standardizing Marketing Practices for Smart Connected New Energy Vehicles (Draft for Public Consultation)." The draft explicitly mandates that during the naming and marketing of combined driving assistance systems, enterprises must refrain from misleading consumers into perceiving these systems as autonomous driving capabilities or from overstating their actual functionalities, thereby preventing potential misuse by drivers. Additionally, enterprises are advised to avoid exaggerated advertising of vehicle driving performance to prevent consumers from being misguided into engaging in unsafe high-speed driving. SAMR will intensify its supervision over corporate advertising and promotional activities, specifically targeting behaviors that exaggerate the capabilities of combined driving assistance systems and deceive or mislead consumers. Furthermore, the Administration will organize technical institutions to conduct thorough technical evaluations and collaborate with MIIT in conducting special investigations to rectify and standardize relevant practices in accordance with the law.
