Recently, a WEY Mountain 8 car owner shared a video alleging that while their vehicle was navigating through an underground garage, the onboard lidar inadvertently caused damage to a garage camera. Security footage captured the incident, which took place at 22:04 on August 11. As the lidar, mounted on the vehicle's roof, operated in proximity to the camera, the latter was swiftly compromised, leaving the screen marred with dead pixels. Seeking clarification, the car owner inquired online if fellow car owners had encountered similar issues. Experts have since analyzed that certain surveillance cameras, lacking infrared filters, are highly susceptible to damage from the lidar's radiation, which adversely affects their photosensitive components.
